Q: What is the Institute of Interfaith Dialog?

A: IID grew out of the need to address the question, "How can citizens of the world live in peace and harmony?" The Institute aims to eliminate or reduce false stereotypes, prejudices and unjustified fears through direct human communication. We believe that, even in the digital era – and perhaps even now more than ever – direct interaction and dialog is the best way to build mutual understanding, trust and harmony.

Corpus Christi Abrahamic Dinner "Youth on Peace"

IID Corpus Christi held its dinner of Abrahamic traditions on April 26th, 2012. The theme for the evening was "Youth on Peace". The event hosted by Ms. Katy Kiser and Rabbi Kenneth Roseman was well attended with close to eighty people in a very friendly atmosphere. The youth from Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths made great presentations on their reflection of peace from their respective holy scriptures. Finally the students were congratulated and presented with a token of appreciation by Hon. Thomas Greenwell.

The dinner also featured IID Corpus Christi recognition of media support for KIIITV-Channel 3. The recognition was presented to Mike DaSilva of KIIITV by our host Ms. Katy Kiser.

Educational Field Trip to Turkey during Spring Break

Institute of Interfaith Dialog organized an intercultural trip to Turkey during the Spring Break in March 2012. Honory guests from Lubbock Christian University experience Turkey's emerging role as a democratic model.

Troy provides a backdrop for the group during a tour of Trojan War.

With much of the Middle East immersed in political change, one predominately Muslim country serves as a model for democracy while expanding its influence as a regional, economic and political power.

According to The Economist, the emerging Islamic mainstream will look for its model "to the democratically elected AK party in Turkey, with its Islamic flavor diluted by tolerance for others and respect for secular institutions."
