IID Seminar: Dr. Keerti S. Rathore, IPGB Laboratory for Crop Transformation

P1050681Institute of Interfaith Dialogue organized a seminar on March 7th, 2013 at Raindrop Turkish House. In this seminar, Dr. Keerti S. Rathore, IPGB Laboratory for Crop Transformation, from Department of Soil & Crop Sciences gave a presentation titled “Genetic Modification on Food Crops and Plants”. Dr. Rathore explained what genetic modification is, types of genetic modification and the reasons of genetic modification. He stated the advantages of genetic modification by showing results of his own research. Genetic modification is utilized to increase the yield, make crops more resistant to pests and infections, and increase the nutrients and vitamins.

IID Get-Together February
P1050651IID's wonderful Get-Together, that took place in February, resulted with great success and pleasure. The guest speakers who took place in the topic of Ever Lasting Love Stories, continuously added flavor to the evening as they presented their part of the theme, one by one. Starting off with the trickling flow of the audience, by the hour that was established to begin the program, the room had been filled with valued guests, all ready to listen to the interesting love stories that were prepared. We started with an ice-breaking game of a race against time to write down as many love story names as you can within a couple minutes. The winner was awarded a beautiful lava lamp.

IID Seminar: Brigadier General Joe E. Ramirez, Commandant of Texas A&M University's Corps of Cadets

Ramirez, Commandant of Texas A&M University's Corps of Cadets, visited the Institute of Interfaith Dialog on Friday, February 8 and delivered a talk  about the Corps of Cadets, their history, where they are today, and where they are trying to go in the future.General Ramirez started with an overview of Corps at Texas A&M and he shared important statistic with the audience. He highlighted the fact that Texas A&M is a top rank program for Cadets and many of former Cadets have held many important positions all around the country.

Interfaith House is Raising!

Photo_Jan_19_8_06_57_AMThe Institute of Interfaith Dialog with fourteen other faith organizations in Bryan-College Station raised the walls for the Davenport Family on Saturday, January 19. Under the leadership of Habitat for Humanity, the faith in action committee first raised $40,000 to start up the project. After raising enough money the next step was raising the walls! On a beautiful Saturday morning, tens of people and volunteers from the Institute gathered together to put the walls up for the interfaith house.

IID Seminar: Valerie Hudson George H.W. Bush Chair at Bush School of Government and Public Service

Valerie Hudson, Professor and George H.W. Bush Chair at Bush School of Government and Public Service visited The Institute of Interfaith Dialog College Station Branch on Tuesday, October 9th. Dr. Hudson is an expert on international security and foreign policy analysis, she received her PhD in political science at The Ohio State University.
