Luxury Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue Dial Guideline
First introduced in 1956, the Milgauss was a revolutionary timepiece developed specifically for the scientific community. With the rise of industry and the increase in electricity in the 1950s, watchmakers were faced with a new set of challenges in dealing with magnetism. Many scientists and individuals working in power plants or laboratories were exposed to intense electromagnetic fields on a daily basis that would significantly disrupt the timing of their mechanical replica watches.
To help these professionals solve this new problem, replica Rolex created the Milgauss – a self-winding chronometer that can resist magnetic fields in excess of 1,000 gausses. As an important reference point, most “anti-magnetic” watches of the time could only withstand magnetic fields of 200 gausses. The Milgauss thus represents a major leap forward in antimagnetic watchmaking technology. If you are wondering where the name Milgauss actually comes from, it is actually a portmanteau of “Mille”, which means one thousand in French, and “gauss”, which is the standard unit used to measure magnetic fields.
However, the Milgauss was discontinued in 1988 and when it was relaunched at Baselworld 2017, it was a completely different and modern watch. This meant upgrading the watch from the inside out – such as replacing the acrylic crystal with a new sapphire crystal for the new model. 116400. Rolex even offered a green sapphire crystal on one of the new Milgauss watches – ref. 116400GV. In addition, the lightning-like second’s hand returned to the collection, this time in a bright orange to match the various dial decorations of the new Rolex Milgauss watches.
All in all, the Milgauss is another great model from fake Rolex that you can wear day in and day out. While its case is by no means ultra-thin, it is sleek enough to tuck into a shirt cuff and has more wrist presence than a standard Rolex watch. It’s also fun and funky enough to wear with jeans and a t-shirt, or other outfits, at any time of day, from a night out at the bar, to a day dealing with some home repair projects.
Like most 40mm watches made entirely of solid stainless steel, the Z-Blue Milgauss 116400GV can be a bit heavy if worn on a bracelet; but the Milgauss uses standard lugs, so there are countless third-party straps if you really need to “lighten the load”. Be forewarned, too, that the combination of the blue dial and green crystal will ensure that this watch will be noticed wherever it goes – just like wearing any gold or two-tone Rolex, don’t expect this watch to go unnoticed, despite its all-stainless steel construction and lesser-known positioning in the Rolex catalog. So, the Z-Blue dial makes it an eye-catching piece, and depending on your mood or preference, that’s not a bad thing.
