The Essence of Rolex Silver Dial Oyster Perpetual Watches
The watches in the Oyster Perpetual collection symbolize universal and classic style while offering the essential functions of everyday life – hours, minutes, and seconds. Firmly rooted in Rolex’s pioneering origins, these models embody timeless form and function. They represent horology in its purest form.
A direct descendant of the original Rolex Oyster launched in 1926, the Oyster Perpetual was the world’s first water-resistant watch and the foundation upon which Rolex built its reputation. A certified Super Chronometer, the Oyster Perpetual has all the key features of the Oyster Perpetual collection – exceptional chronometric precision, a water-resistant Oyster case, and a self-winding mechanical movement that passes through a constant-motion rotor. Understated and elegant, this watch is known for its universally classic style.
The Oyster Perpetual provides a clear and accurate time display – hours, minutes and seconds. The different versions of this watch stand out with dials in subtle or vibrant colors, be it a sophisticated sunburst dial in silver, bright blue or glossy black or a striking candy pink, turquoise blue or green lacquered dial. Available in five sizes – 28, 31, 34, 36, and 41 mm – the Oyster Perpetual offers the largest selection of diameters in the Rolex collection.
These models are paired with a three-piece link Oyster bracelet for security and comfort. It is equipped with a folding Oyster clasp and the cheap Rolex-developed Easylink comfort extension link, which allows the wearer to adjust the length of the strap by approximately 5 mm.
The Oyster Perpetual is made entirely of Oyster steel. Oyster steel was developed especially for Rolex and belonged to the 904L steel family – the alloy most commonly used in the high-tech sector. Oyster steel is extremely corrosion-resistant, provides an excellent finish once polished, and retains its luster over time.
The case of the Oyster Perpetual guarantees water resistance to a depth of 100 meters (330 feet). Its middle case is made of a solid piece of Oyster steel. The edge of the case back is finely grooved, sealed, and screwed down with a special tool that allows only certified imitation Rolex watchmakers to access the movement. Another central component of the watertight construction is the Twinlock winding crown, equipped with a double water-resistance system and screwed securely to the case.
